A Project Manager is required for a leading renewable energy company for the accelerated project development and then the construction phase of a 210MW solar farm.

The Project Manager will:

• Start ‘upstream’ to project manage the fast-paced development activities to financial close, then oversee at a project level, the construction phase.

• Take an active role in defining the User Requirements, Project Scope and Specifications.

• Find the optimal project acceleration path through planning, grid connection, plant design under the ECI, early works scope (grid connection and tie-line) and bullish scoping of the limited NTP under the EPC Contract.

• Oversee key consultant engagements including the planning package, network connection and the owners engineer technical support, as well as key commercial arrangements such as ECI and EPC.

Requirements include:

• A strong construction background with project management and development experience.

• Experience of solar farm construction is highly regarded but experience from other power generation projects may be considered.

• Strong commercial and technical judgement.

• High quality judgement to achieve the desired schedule outcome.

• The legal right to work in Australia.

Ideally the role would be Adelaide based, however a Melbourne base is an option during development. The construction phase will need to be Adelaide based.

Solar Development and Delivery Project Engineer

A Project Engineer is required for a leading Australian renewable energy company to support the Project Manager in all phases of the accelerated development and construction of a 210MW solar farm.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an Australian company who is developing innovative and sustainable energy technologies and providing end-to-end solutions that deliver renewable energy generation through new and reformed power networks.

The Project Engineer will liaise between the Project Manager and the technical aspects of the project, providing a technical to commercial coverage and alignment for the project. Assisting in project controls is a key part of the role, including budgeting, scheduling and planning. The Project Engineer will need to understand the EPC schedule in depth, so scheduling expertise is essential.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for:

• Scoping, soliciting proposals, engaging (including any commercial review requirements), and managing technical and specialist consultants.

• Identifying and compiling budget requirements and tracking commitments and costs for technical and engineering project activities.

• Identifying tasks and dependencies for engineering and technical project activities and helping to track progress of these.

• Assisting contract management for the engineering and technical aspects of large delivery projects under EPCM or EPC arrangements, including management of associated Owner’s Engineering consultant assistance and oversight.

• Providing ad hoc technical investigations and engineering with rapid turnaround to supplement available and provided information, and to provide high level guidance for the project team.

You will need:

• Good process related discipline and skills to utilise process to drive delivery and outcomes.

• Strong expertise of scheduling especially within accelerated project timelines.

• Good communication skills with an ability to work and collaborate across a relatively broad range of business disciplines to coordinate and capture requirements.

• A background in electrical engineering is desirable.

• Experience in the power or oil & gas industries in Australia.

• The legal right to work in Australia.

Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Manager

A Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Manager is required for a leading global renewable energy company to manage the delivery of all project construction and operational related communications activities including website updates, community newsletters, social media feeds, public exhibitions, educational projects and press releases to ensure the project benefits are promoted to stakeholders. The position will also undertake regular liaison with a wide range of local stakeholders and manage the implementation of community funding arrangements.

Based in Sydney or Victoria, the position will involve travel to rural site locations across Australia on a regular basis.

The Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Manager will be:

  • Responsible for driving the communications strategy for a suite of company developed and third party renewable energy projects during their construction phase and ongoing operations to ensure positive community relations are developed and maintained.
  • Organising community events that enable stakeholders to celebrate project milestones
  • Developing and delivering project information/education sessions for schools and community groups.
  • Developing relationships with key stakeholder groups and providing regular news feeds and project updates.
  • Working with local stakeholders to develop arrangements for the management of community funds.
  • Developing and maintaining a community engagement strategy for all projects.
  • Providing regular local and stakeholder engagement during construction and identifying innovative ways to promote good news stories and achievements.
  • Working alongside key stakeholders to create innovative projects to roll out into the community to further strengthen community engagement.
  • Set up and management of a community liaison group.
  • Acting as a key public point of contact concerning the project.
  • Coordinating press and media relations, sourcing stories, writing media releases.
  • Managing the project website and communications management including setting up and monitoring a dedicated complaints line.
  • Assist with the setup of community fund panel.
  • Arrange to host public open days for the public during construction.
  • Attend local events to promote the project.
  • From time to time, provide communications support to pre-construction wind projects as required by the wind development team.
  • As required provide communication updates to other asset management project team members and internal colleagues.

 

You will need:

  • High class degree in a relevant area or extensive management experience in a related area essential.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills essential.
  • Business level of English capability essential.
  • The ability to travel as required throughout Australia essential. Home working may be considered.

Senior Commercial Analyst

A Senior Commercial Analyst is required for a leading global renewable energy company to help ensure the business cases for investment opportunities are consistent, accurate and based on an informed risk profile. The position will also take a lead within the organisation to ensure the company’s knowledge base of emerging offtake opportunities (Power Purchase Agreements) and other routes to market strategies are informed and structured.

The work will focus on the established business streams of onshore wind, utility-scale PV, large scale battery storage and Asset Management.

This company focuses on renewable power generation through wind and solar energy technologies, as well as energy storage, transmission, and demand side management technologies.

Based in Sydney, this is an exciting opportunity to join a highly experienced team that includes specialists in developing, engineering, constructing and connecting renewable energy projects.

 

Specifically, the Senior Commercial Analyst will:

  • Develop and improve financial / commercial models to support the valuation of projects and capital allocation decisions.
  • Provide strategic and commercial support to the business cases being put in front of the Risk and Investment Committee and Major Transaction Committee.
  • Ensure the company knowledge base of emerging offtake opportunities (Power Purchase Agreements) and other routes to market strategies are informed and structured.
  • Manage key market relationships.
  • Shape the company’s strategic planning process by developing compelling arguments, translating these into a high quality dialogue with the business and presentations for a Senior Executive audience.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects to tight timescales and to balance this with an understanding of the bigger picture.
  • Knowledge of project finance modelling.
  • Knowledge of valuation metrics and methodologies.

  • Advanced Excel skills for financial modelling & forecasting is essential.

Structural Engineer

The client is a rapidly growing, global solar technology company that provides leading-edge technology to utility-scale solar projects.  

The Structural Engineer will provide structural design of systems from conceptual design to project closeout; working closely with structural engineering consultants to produce a final design package and support project engineering in project development and execution. They will manage day to day issues on utility scale PV projects from the development stage to construction support. The position will manage all decisions relating to Structural Engineering for the company’s projects including but not limited to: wind load calculations, steel design and component sizing, foundation sizing, and various other structural engineering tasks and decisions to support project quoting and calculation packages.  

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Produce civil and structural design documentation, including drawings and calculations. 
  • Assist in project development phase; review pertinent site information, calculations and cost estimation.  
  • Produce civil and structural design documentation, drawings, and calculations. 
  • Prepare wind, seismic, foundation, and other structural calculations and sign/seal those if required  
  • Provide construction support; RFIs and submittals. 
  • Coordinate with the company’s Structural/Civil Engineers in other regions to create and update structural and civil standards, specifications, templates, and design tools. 
  • Manage schedule and review structural and civil engineering consultants’ works. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.  
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering standards, codes and other applicable State and Federal guidelines including but not limited to BCA, AS 1170.2, AS 4100, AS 2159, AS2041, IBC, ASCE, AISC. 
  • Proficiency in finite element software (RISA, STAAD, or equivalent) and analysis. 
  • Registered CPEng, RPEQ preferred.  
  • Structural engineering work experience in the EPC industry. 
  • A significant portion of work experience in structural design, including dead, live, snow, wind, and seismic loads, the design of steel and concrete structures, and development of construction documents.  
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Lpile/Allpile and other structural analysis software. 
  • Self-motivated team player. 
  • Passion for solar a plus.
