Data Scientist

This role will be responsible for creating forecasting tools / algorithms that utilise data such as spot market, dispatch load, weather etc. to attempt to estimate electricity price movements to enable their customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.

The Data Scientist will:

  • Work with predictive models;
  • Implement time-series forecasting;
  • Manage data sets.

Strong data analysis and algorithm development skills are necessary for this role, with expertise in R and Python. An understanding of the electricity market would be beneficial.

A Trader is required for a wholesale electricity retailer that connects its customers to the wholesale market and provides an alternate way for businesses to buy electricity.

This role will be responsible for creating positions that enable/support their capped product and to buy power from PPAs. The Trader will need to be checking markets, trading futures, pricing customer load, executing trades and performing in-depth energy data analysis.

The Trader will:

  • Manage wholesale trading activities and electricity market contracts;
  • Analyse opportunities under different hedge scenarios;
  • Source prospects to sell customised wholesale hedged solutions.

Previous experience in a trading role with understanding of the derivatives market is necessary, as is an understanding of the energy sector.

Solar Development and Delivery Project Engineer

A Project Engineer is required for a leading Australian renewable energy company to support the Project Manager in all phases of the accelerated development and construction of a 210MW solar farm. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join an Australian company who is developing innovative and sustainable energy technologies and providing end-to-end solutions that deliver renewable energy generation through new and reformed power networks. 

The Project Engineer will liaise between the Project Manager and the technical aspects of the project, providing a technical to commercial coverage and alignment for the project. Assisting in project controls is a key part of the role, including budgeting, scheduling and planning. The Project Engineer will need to understand the EPC schedule in depth, so scheduling expertise is essential. 

The Project Engineer will be responsible for: 

  • Scoping, soliciting proposals, engaging (including any commercial review requirements), and managing technical and specialist consultants. 
  • Identifying and compiling budget requirements and tracking commitments and costs for technical and engineering project activities. 
  • Identifying tasks and dependencies for engineering and technical project activities and helping to track progress of these. 
  • Assisting contract management for the engineering and technical aspects of large delivery projects under EPCM or EPC arrangements, including management of associated Owner’s Engineering consultant assistance and oversight. 
  • Providing ad hoc technical investigations and engineering with rapid turnaround to supplement available and provided information, and to provide high level guidance for the project team. 

You will need: 

  • Good process related discipline and skills to utilise process to drive delivery and outcomes. 
  • Strong expertise of scheduling especially within accelerated project timelines.  
  • Good communication skills with an ability to work and collaborate across a relatively broad range of business disciplines to coordinate and capture requirements.  
  • A background in electrical engineering is desirable. 
  • Experience in the power or oil & gas industries in Australia.  
  • The legal right to work in Australia. 

Ideally the role would be Adelaide based, however a Melbourne base is an option during development. The construction phase will need to be Adelaide based.

Demand Response Manager

They will be responsible for the management of Demand Response (DR) systems and communicating with participating customers, as well as supporting DR Duty Managers during market events.  

The Demand Response Manager will: 

  • Manage and program coordination of RERT, ARENA and critical peak demand 
  • Manage the tender process, customer contracts, signing customers up for RERT 
  • Manage DR Duty Managers, including training them in the use of the system and managing the DR duty calendar to ensure adequate staffing 
  • Ensure customers are setup and configured for DR systems and aware of their responsibilities 
  • Oversee the installation, configuration and setup of intelligent controllers  
  • Manage AEMO and market participants as required 

Previous Demand Response experience is not necessary, but a strong understanding of how the electricity market works with some program management experience is required.

Structural Engineer

The client is a rapidly growing, global solar technology company that provides leading-edge technology to utility-scale solar projects.  

The Structural Engineer will provide structural design of systems from conceptual design to project closeout; working closely with structural engineering consultants to produce a final design package and support project engineering in project development and execution. They will manage day to day issues on utility scale PV projects from the development stage to construction support. The position will manage all decisions relating to Structural Engineering for the company’s projects including but not limited to: wind load calculations, steel design and component sizing, foundation sizing, and various other structural engineering tasks and decisions to support project quoting and calculation packages.  

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Produce civil and structural design documentation, including drawings and calculations. 
  • Assist in project development phase; review pertinent site information, calculations and cost estimation.  
  • Produce civil and structural design documentation, drawings, and calculations. 
  • Prepare wind, seismic, foundation, and other structural calculations and sign/seal those if required  
  • Provide construction support; RFIs and submittals. 
  • Coordinate with the company’s Structural/Civil Engineers in other regions to create and update structural and civil standards, specifications, templates, and design tools. 
  • Manage schedule and review structural and civil engineering consultants’ works. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.  
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering standards, codes and other applicable State and Federal guidelines including but not limited to BCA, AS 1170.2, AS 4100, AS 2159, AS2041, IBC, ASCE, AISC. 
  • Proficiency in finite element software (RISA, STAAD, or equivalent) and analysis. 
  • Registered CPEng, RPEQ preferred.  
  • Structural engineering work experience in the EPC industry. 
  • A significant portion of work experience in structural design, including dead, live, snow, wind, and seismic loads, the design of steel and concrete structures, and development of construction documents.  
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Lpile/Allpile and other structural analysis software. 
  • Self-motivated team player. 
  • Passion for solar a plus.
